Pure red

Pure Red

Pure Red

A very dramatic red on black color for my client Anne. Anne is a fun client, she is always up for something a little different. This was done with a n ISO foil placement technique. The panels are lightened to a light orange tone, and then re-foiled with a “pure red” semi permenent color. The cut has a “disconnected” top panel over a short pixie cut.

Don’t touch him!

Our poor baby had to go to the vet yesterday. You know we have to really trust our vet to leave our (extremely loved and pampered) pug with them for dental and nasal surgery. It’s not just that it was gonna cost. We’re fine with spending money on the little devil angel. It’s actually more the danger! Pug’s don’t do extremely well with anaesthetic, so we really were a little stupid all day.

Pugs have funny issues; you have to clean their facial folds, keep their ears clean (because they flop), they have breathing issues (duh), and they’ve got funky teeth (short “smooshed” snouts). So Buddha was in for dental work, including 4 extractions, and a nose job, nasal not elective. While they were in there they decided to “clip” his soft pallet. They snipped off a little bit that was actually blocking his windpipe when he slept. So he’s got stitches inside and out. But he isn’t scratching them yet, so for the most part he’s avoiding the dreaded cone of shame (cute Up reference if you haven’t seen the pixar film yet!).

We’re very lucky to have an amazing vet. Pete and I were among their first customers when they took over the storefront next to All That Jazz a few years back. We were new owners of the salon, and they were new owners of the clinic. So we felt a connection. Lucky for us, they turned out to be the best vets you could want. They treated our old Husky mix, Dena, and our cat KD, until the end, and they treat Buddha (and Homer, the other one) like members of the family.

In return we’ve given them a ton of business over the years. Starting with Dena and her $100 a week medical condition, continuing on down to Homer and his $1400 vacation with them for a whole week (they felt so sorry for him they took him home at night to stay with them). We were in New York for the week, I’m pretty sure his medical bills rivaled our stay! We are happy with every penny we’ve spent with them.

So you can see, since Buddha is way more pampered than any of them, we wouldn’t bat an eye at high cost care to keep our “baby” safe. And it was definitely money well spent! I’m happy to say Buddha is recuperating very nicely. He isn’t bothering the stitches in his nose, and he doesn’t seem to be in very much pain.

As a matter of fact, one of the worries we had was that he wouldn’t snore as much. I know! We’re strange, but we find his snore very relaxing. He’s snorkeling as I write…
